Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce Announcement of 2011 Award Recipients

The Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce announces our Community Awards and Installation of Officers at our 2011 Annual Banquet held Thursday, October 27th, 2011.

The following Awards are nominated by the Chamber Members and the winner is based on the majority of votes.

Business Leader of the Year - Dr. Randy Stovall, Pasco Hernando Community College
Dr. Stovall has served on numerous committees within the business community and for Pasco County. The college, which promotes an "open door policy" is actively involved in student activities involving the local area, and is one of the region's largest employers with approximately 350 full time employees.

Large Business of the Year - Florida Hospital Zephyrhills
The Florida Hospital Zephyrhills has supported the community through staff volunteer hours, taking a lead role in many non-profit organizations, supports an extensive community education for health and wellness program, is innovative within the industry and has won many national and regional awards for excellence in health care.

Small Business of the Year - Dade City Realty
Dade City Realty has supported the community for 40 years, and the present owner, Sue Szczerba continues to lead the business community through sponsorships, committee work, championing the Chamber Golf Tournament and assisting with Pasco County Fair exhibits. Sue can always be counted on when extra help is needed.

Civic Association of the Year - Dade City Woman's Club
Organized in 1909, and housed in its historic building, the Dade City Woman's Club has sponsored many community and civic events, provides leadership in children's programs, "Healthy Families Pasco", shoes for children program and other initiatives that have positive impacts on the future of Dade City.

Citizen of the Year - Jimmy Adcock, Tampa Electric Company
Mr. Adcock has served our community in many capacities. His leadership to the Chamber, Mainstreet, Rotary and our merchants is evident through his commitment and tireless efforts for the betterment of these agencies. Jimmy's knowledge of the community is very beneficial when dealing with government issues and future projects. Through his sponsorships, time and efforts Jimmy has contributed greatly to the Dade City community.

The following two awards are nominated by the Full Board of Directors and the winner is based on the majority of votes.

Ambassador of the Year - Ms. Eugenia Parlow
Ms. Parlow has contributed to the Chamber through her enthusiasm and support of events, our membership programs and Ambassador Program mentor. She has won the hearts of many new members.

Chamber Member of the Year - Mrs. Bonnie Krummen, CenterState Bank, N.A.
Ms. Krummen has provided leadership within the Chamber and throughout the community. As Treasurer, she has guided the organization through a restructuring, as Membership Chair, Bonnie developed new and innovative membership sales techniques and as a Chamber leader, she is active in Chamber events and always promoting our mission, all while combining her family, professional and community responsibilities. The Richard Tombrink Lifetime Achievement Award nominees are nominated by the Awards Committee and the winner is selected by the Full Board of Directors.

Tombrink Achievement Award Winner - Mr. Wilton Simpson, Simpson Environmental
Mr. Simpson has served in many capacities on numerous boards throughout Pasco County. Notably, Wilton has been the Chair of the Pasco County Farm Bureau, President of the Pasco County Fair Association, Chair of the Pasco Economic Development Council, Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, Kiwanis Club, and Premier Community Health Care. Mr. Simpson was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to serve on the Pasco County Housing Authority. Wilton epitomizes the phrase "giving back".

The Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce is a membership based not for profit entity that strives to be the best resource to support our members and attract new business to our area. The mission of the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce is "To promote economic growth and quality of life in the greater Dade City area."
